keywords and variables

Looking through some of my STOS code from late 80s, early 90s I noticed I quite used a lot of French, Dutch and badly spelled English  as variable names. Was I THAT  bad at spelling, back then ???

Then I realized it was a way of circumventing STOS keywords.

Like using "PLEYER" instead of "PLAYER", since that would be listed as "play ER". Or using the French word "COURT" instead of "SHORT" as that would be listed as "SH or T".

So, what is everyone these days using as a workaround?

Replacing letters by digits? "PL4YER", "SH0RT"

Misspelling on purpose? "PLEYER", ...

Just wondering.
